Winter Wonderland Sugar Cookies

  • Author: Chef Lolytta

Description

Buttery, soft sugar cookies decorated with a simple royal icing to create a beautiful winter-themed treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 3 tablespoons warm water

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  3. Roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
  4. For the icing, combine powdered sugar and meringue powder. Add warm water and beat on high until stiff peaks form, about 5-7 minutes. Divide and color as desired, then decorate cooled cookies.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
