For the Crust:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a heavy saucepan, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, evaporated milk, and butter.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 236Β°F on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in vanilla extract and pecan halves. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and begins to lose its gloss. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool completely.
