For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Thai chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
- 1 head of butter lettuce, leaves separated
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Heat the oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the garlic and chilies and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Cook for another minute. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves until wilted.
- To serve, spoon the warm beef mixture into individual butter lettuce leaves, creating little rolls or cups.
