Super Moist Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache

A decadent chocolate cake that is incredibly moist and topped with a rich, luscious chocolate ganache.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add in the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. For the ganache: heat the heavy cream until just boiling, then pour over the chopped chocolate.
  8. Let stand for a few minutes, then stir until smooth.
  9. Allow the ganache to cool and thicken slightly before spreading over the cooled cakes.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
