Soft Christmas Cookies

  • Author: Chef Lolytta

Description

These classic, cake-like Christmas cookies are soft, buttery, and perfect for decorating with festive icing and sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll rounded tablespoons of dough into balls and place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the bottoms are just lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Decorate as desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
