Snowflake Sugar Cookies

  • Author: Chef Lolytta

Description

Delicate, buttery sugar cookies cut into festive snowflake shapes and decorated with a simple vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  3. Roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Use a snowflake-shaped cookie cutter to press and shape the dough. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet for 2 minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
  4. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies and allow to set completely before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
