For the Crust:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker. Season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the entire jar of marinara sauce over the chicken, ensuring it is fully covered.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the chicken. Cover again and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot over pasta, rice, or with a side of vegetables.
