  • Author: Chef Lolytta

Description

A comforting meatloaf variation that combines juicy beef with a savory mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place into a baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes.
  4. While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the mushroom gravy. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add the mushrooms, and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Add beef broth to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually stir into the gravy until thickened.
  7. After 30 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven, pour the mushroom gravy over it, and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
