For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place into a baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes.
- While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the mushroom gravy. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add the mushrooms, and sauté until golden brown.
- Add beef broth to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually stir into the gravy until thickened.
- After 30 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven, pour the mushroom gravy over it, and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
