- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- For the batter: 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- For the lemon layer: 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons lemon zest
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9Γ13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix 1 cup sugar, milk, and melted butter. Stir in the flour mixture until smooth. Pour into the prepared dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup flour. Sprinkle over the batter.
- Sprinkle lemon zest over the mixture, then drizzle lemon juice on top.
- Pour hot water over everything without stirring. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden.
