For the Crust:

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups chopped spinach

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large pot, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream, parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with extra parmesan cheese if desired.
