For the Crust:
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups chopped spinach
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large pot, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the heavy cream, parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes.
- Serve hot with extra parmesan cheese if desired.
