Christmas Tree Cookies

  • Author: Chef Lolytta

Description

Festive and buttery sugar cookies cut into Christmas tree shapes and decorated with green icing and colorful sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Green royal icing
  • Assorted sprinkles and edible pearls

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Once completely cool, decorate the cookies with green royal icing and assorted sprinkles.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
