For the Crust:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Green royal icing
- Assorted sprinkles and edible pearls
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once completely cool, decorate the cookies with green royal icing and assorted sprinkles.
