Boston Cream Donuts

Description

Delicious homemade donuts filled with creamy custard and topped with rich chocolate glaze.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix in sugar, butter, egg, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface, then transfer to a greased bowl to rise until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into rounds. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  5. For the filling, whisk heavy cream until thickened. Fill cooled donuts with cream.
  6. Melt chocolate and pour over filled donuts as a glaze.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
