For the Crust:

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small head cabbage, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 potatoes, diced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large pot, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pot.
  2. Add sausage to the pot and brown for 3-4 minutes. Remove and set aside with the bacon.
  3. SautΓ© onion and garlic in the same pot until softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add cabbage, potatoes, chicken broth, water, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  6. Stir in cooked bacon and sausage. Simmer for another 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
