For the Crust:
- 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups Gruyere cheese, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Grease a baking dish with the softened butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the Gruyere cheese. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
